Angry Leicester Airfield used to welcome visitors..

The management at Leicester have taken the decision to raise the amount of fuel uplift to qualify for a free landing fee at the weekends to 50 litres.
Is this a ploy to chase away the visiting microlights, taildraggers and small aircraft of all types ?

Could it be that now the Chairman has a gas guzzling speed machine all lesser beings with less than 200HP are no longer welcome ?

Or is it simply to persude people to fly into Leicester with minimum fuel
and practice their forced landings ?

Answers on a postcard please to

The Council of Management EGBG.

PS the reciprical landing agreements with other airfields have also been removed by LAC.

Whatever the reason it will certainly keep me and my aircraft away. I fly a PFA taildragger and used to regularly drop into Leicester for fuel. Unfortunately I would have to be irresponsibly low on fuel to be able to get 50 litres in.
Leicester used to have free reciprocal landings with a number of other airfields but has withdrawn for some unknown reason. (At least the reason is unknown to me) Fortunately it doesn't affect those of us who are not based at Leicester - there are many other airfields happy to have reciprocal free landings so we just go elsewhere. It must have put up the costs to the Leicester members though, so it doesn't seem likely that the change was done with their benefits in mind.

Hmmm cheers for that info I was going to stop off there on Sunday morning in my cub for fuel uplift(approx 30 litres)whilst onroute to Wroughton, but after reading this I won't be landing there ever again unless things change.
Does'nt it just pi55 you off, when you find a good friendly & well located GA airfield, and then the b*stards have to go and change things.
Just for the info of anybody from Leicester management, last year I visited you approximately 12 times uplifting a total of approx. 500 litres of avgas, and on each visit purchased a couple of meals for the appropriate time of the day,ok this may not jump out as a lot of profit for you but consider the fact that I would probably have gone on doing this for several years to come, and remember that I am only one person/customer.
As for my friends who I used to rendezvous with at Leicester well ,a couple have the usual single engined cessnas/pipers (8 GPH)and another has a twin(18 GPH),so it looks like it's not only my custom your going to lose out on after all.
Hmmmm Nottingham,Sywell,Wellsbourne,Turweston,Sibson.............. .Yep plenty too choose from there !

These people are just greedy, but as a number of you have said, there are plenty of alternatives. I for 1 will be not be using it again.

You're absolutely right - Leicester is run by a complete to55er. Don't expect them to treat visitors well if they can't even treat their best member/customers with any decency. See the following thread:-

http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/For...ML/000416.html (This is the mayhem at leics thread)

It's time for the members to pull together and do something about this before the "big E" screws the whole club up.

Comments on a postcard...

As an aside, you wouldn't have happened to have been in the Cub which weather diverted into Kemble this (Sunday) afternoon?

If you were, well done for surviving that storm, it looked a bad one from the Beer Tent
