Myself and a fellow member of our flying group visited Newark Air Museum last week, which has some 54 aircraft from Vulcan Bomber to a Flying Flea.
No landing fee on the gliding club runway (Winthorpe)and taxi up to the entrance of the museum, at £4 entry it does make great afternoon or day out.
Winthorpe is marked on charts just a couple of miles N/E of Newark next to the A1 (as are the power cables on finals from the east).
Runway is 09-27, we used the tarmac, beware of the first section of runway at the easterly end as it is littered with potholes, easily identifiable by the lighter shade of colour of runway, grass to the south of tarmac is also an option in dry conditions, but could be a little bumpy.
Also suggest working RAF Waddington, they are in radio range from the ground at Winthorpe (they provided us unprompted wind and QFE).
Wind sock is difficult to spot, it is on the hangar roof approx 50 yds West of the Vulcan.
The runway is massive,,,,after all they did actually land the Vulcan there (20 yrs ago), just beware of the poplar trees alongside the runway to the north in x winds.
No radio but ring first to ensure gliders are not active (by cables) and suggest a low pass on arrival to signal intentions to land as we did, some details are in Pooleys in gliding section.
The Air Museum is a registered charity and an family annual membership is available for £20 giving free access to the museum for a year.
We all complain about landing fees, this site gives great value for £4 entry and a great day out.
