Smile Twistedenginestarter, can u assist with fs98......?

After reading the thread on 'can't navigate...', was impressed to read about the VFR England and Wales add-on for fs98.

I've started this new thread, because I don't want to hijack the nav one.

Wondering if yourself, (or anyone else!) can give some advice regarding this. I'm a <very> novice user of fs98, and would like to know how you 'tell' the software you want a particular flight setup / created.

At the moment, the only options I have when creating a flight are
aircraft / airport / time of day / weather.

I can't, for example, put in a start airport, turning points, and another airport to land - can't even just put in the turning points to fly, then return back to the start airport.

I would like to purchase the VHS scenery add-on, but need somebody to advise me how to best use it.

What I'd like to be able to do is to plot a course on my map, and then 'fly' that course in ms98, using the VHS scenery, but don't know how to do it! (I'm a bit ashamed of this, because my background is in I.T!!).

Some advice / info / ANYTHING most welcome!!!

You can only do what you could in the situation you are simulating.

If you choose the 737 (which has no FMS in FS98), you can't tell it, or ATC (nobody's listening) anything the about the intended flight.

Pick a route using your map. Draw your track. Then I suggest, set up a runway and some cross wind and then just take off, turn onto guessed direction and then plot recognised fixes on your map making adjustments to get back on track.

You can of course do a STAR at your arrival airfield if you feel so inclined but such sophistications are not the point of this exercise.

Similarly I suggest you use the autopilot for the whole flight as flying the plane is not what you are worried about. It is marrying views from the cockpit with a map on your knee that is the point of all this.

Good luck.
