Anthing Happening Tomorrow (27th)?

Weather looks great....

Is there anything on?

If not, how about it?

Any suggestions?

Otherwise it looks like i'll be aimlessly bimbling. I feel I've done my fair share of nodding and smiling with the relatives for another year and fancy a trip out.

I wanted to go out and play today but had no joy in obtaining Avgas over the past 3 days - I normally have a couple of hundred litres but did not replenish it mid Dec as other things were going on. Had to siphon 40 litres out of two different aeroplanes yesterday to allow me to go out and play on Christmas Day.

Hopefully somebody at Seething or Old Buck tomorrow and I might go off for more fun!

Where's it to be?

Both Stik and Mono were noted for their absence for the flour-bombing today (26th) but we all had a great time anyhoo with the CAVOK and still wind, infinite cloudbase, infinite viz too.

Stik, I need a trip in the two-potter, so you are welcome anytime.

Mono, I need a trip in the Lush, so you are welcome anytime.

So where do we meet chaps?

Name a place and a time and I shall be there for lunch.....

Edited to say:

Old Buck sounds good and I shall head that way if nobody replies to this impromptu invite to meet up for a festive lunch.

P.S That's a very kind invite Cloud but I would need to find a baby sitter for the two of us to come along. How's the repair coming along?

Mono - I've Pm'd you my batfone #.

Need to nip up to Norwich now in the Landi to get some supplies but IF OB is open could easily be there for lunch and Avgas. Will check this forum later this morning.

Nobody answering the phone at OB at the moment. Would be up for an outing there if somebody can guarantee food :-)

No reply at OB, White Waltham open and accepting visitors and serving food until 3pm.

Shobden open, no food.

Any other suggestions?

Hmm

Shobdon was the only place I found that was open today. I got within 6 miles only to find my radio had packed up....

Anyway, all sorted now.

Stik, if you want to meet up tomorrow I'm about but fear there is currently a lack of venues as most airfields seem to be closed down. If you find anywhere open it would be good to meet up.

Make sure you being those two latvians you mentioned you had staying with you over Christmas

Sleap is open, but no food apart from a coffee machine and I think a machine selling crisps and chocolate. And the whole area is a bit cold and bleak generally, though the runway is clear, and I think they have fuel.

Gave up on you all and went to White Waltham for a very nice lunch. Hoping Dunkeswell is open tommorrow as I plan on taking the Duchess down and dont want to avail myself of Exeters services if I can help it.

Anybody know if Dunkeswell are open by chance?

Five of us went to Headcorn yesterday. They are open and the girls in the cafe are doing a fine job, as always.

A great day out today!

The wind was blowing well but I made it to Leicester for a lovely breakfast and a warm welcome from the locals. Was fortunate enough to get a go in a fellow PPRuNers Taylorcraft which was a first and very nice it is too!

Realised when I got back that I had 10 minutes to go before I hit the 100 hr mark for 2004 so went to 5000 feet, got the GPS to read 140 kts in the tailwind and then came down again!

All in all, one of those days that remind you why you started in the first place.
