Green YAK11 #36
There I was, alone in my Pitts, fat dumb and happy, Sat afternoon, 3600' on the regional when I almost got bounced by a YAK11. His bright yellow spinner 2,000 feet below caught the sun and I watched him arc up towards me.
I rolled (sp?) to let him know I'd seen him as he was creeping up towards my six. Being far more maneouverable and an awful lot slower I was confident that in a turning/looping/twisty way, I could out-turn him and never allow him to get his gun sight on me for long enough for defelection to work.
Had he just held back and framed me, I'd have been toast!
There really was no contest and after a while he drew up and waved before he went off to look for more likely prey.
Q1 Who was he
Q2 How do we engineer a rematch?
The gloves weren't off and it was really quite tame but his acceleration to maneouvering speed was awesome. I was IAS'ing 145mph - I guess he zinged up towards 300kts?

Hi
Look up G-IYAK or G-KYAK on the CAA G-INFO database and you'll have your answer. there are two 11s carrying 36 as their marks. Pictures of both for easy ident.

He's very proud of his nice new spinner. Just you wait until he's got his Yak 9 (or maybe it's now classed as a 3) to play with! ![Evil](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies/evil.gif)
Saw him start up and taxi out on Saturday afternoon with a nice throaty roar, followed by this whirry 'sewing machine' sound of a monowheel Europa bimbling along behind him.
The Mustang was out on Saturday too, so you were lucky not to be bounced twice.
