here's my situation:
PPL obtained in July 1999
hour building to about 180ish TT
I haven't flown since April 03 and my flight inspection was due in July 04'.

1. Is it a JAR-FCL PPL(A) or a UK PPL(A)?
2. When was the expiry date of your last SEP Class Rating?
3. When did you last fly a SEP Class aeroplane as PIC?
4. What is a 'flight inspection'?

From what you say I would think you need to do a Flight with an examiner to RENEW, with the gap you have had though it is probably best to do some refresher flying with an instructor first - this is assuming you mean revalidation due when you say "my flight inspection was due in July 04", as Beagle points out, the terms you are using are rather incorrect which does not help.![Suspect](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies/cwm13.gif)
<<edit: to correct probable incorrect terms

Sorry i was tired when I wrote that post and omitted some vital info:
It's an FAA PPL
The flight inspection I refer to is the Biennual inspection.
Thank you for your time.

Ah, an FAA fellah!
Well, the score with your licence is that it's called a certificate. That's because the airspace belongs to everybody, all you need to do is prove you are competent to fly in it. It's valid until you die because that's the way it works in the US. The problem is, it's not valid for being PIC in the same way.
The flight inspection you refer to is called a Bienniel flight Review (and no taking the michael if I cannot spell).
So sounds like you need one of those. When was your last medical?
You should know this because you studied the FAR's prior to getting your FAA certificate. You will also need to know this if you want your instructor to sign his name to say you have satisfactorilly completed your BFR (no spelling flames).
There is a bit of a banter going on here from the JAA/CAA folk, these posts don't help, we need to put on a more professional front.
If you can't beat them, join them. Eh Rustle
