Is it a bird? Is it a 'plane?

No! It's Northern Flying Lawyer to the rescue!

Not only does it violate your human rights, it is a vicious slander on the good people of South Yorkshire.

At least we prononce the vowels in our words as God intended - no "arm gowin darn a airfield a gow fliyin, ain oi?" as was recently overheard at an un-named southern airfield.

It's hardly all RP darn sarf.

Could always name it after one of the local villages. Looking at the map, there's a place nearby called "Finningley", that trips off the tongue nicely and isn't taken.

Co-incidently I just spotted a car with "Finningley Village says YES to airport" in the back.

But perhaps this is the 'other' Finningley???

(or in local patois, "me lass as sin a caar wit sticker i't'back, sez thei wan airpoert att RAF base. Meebi tha weeere otheer Finninlie")

If anybody would like this in Icelandic or Finnish as well, please let me know.

Confusingly as well, I see we now have to call the snappily titled Teeside, "Durham Tees Valley". The local village being called 'Urlay Nook'.

The training of DoncasterSheffieldHood ATC starts January and it is then you can do the free approaches (E&OE in case of any changes).

Details (Pilot November) from Mike Howell 0151 907 1523 at JLI where the radar service will be controlled from.

Approaches via visual, NDB, DME and ILS cat 1 R20

(assuming that was the number you wanted?)
