Landing site near Telford Exhibition

I am planning to go to the Air Sports show at Telford this weekend. Does anybody know if there is anywhere to land a helicopter within reasonable walking distance of the exhibition hall, where one could land without transgressing Rule 5? Obviously it would have to be somewhere secure where the locals could not finger poke it. There is a hotel across the roundabout from the show but they don't appear to have a helipad.

I understand that movements in and out of Shifnal are limited to aircraft whose MTOW does not exceed 450Kg.

You could be right. There is microlight activity out of there which may explain the Weight clause.

Cheers

Prestige Precsion Engineering Ltd on Stafford Park just east of Telford town centre has a helipad. Thats about 1 mile from the exhibition hall along Queen Elizibeth Avenue. I flew in there as a passenger in a R44 about 18 months ago. Not sure of its current status but definately worth a call.

For future reference we have a heli-field about 13 miles from Telford but are not about this weekend otherwise I would run you into there myself.

Enjoy the show. its only small but not bad at all

Sherlowe - 4nm SE of Shawbury. At worst a ten minute drive from Telford. Give Bob a call (he's in Pooleys etc).

Shifnal does accept microlights but, from what I've heard, they're fast running out of booking slots. Call them now if you want one!

I can't make it... bad planning I know.

The (non) series answer is '...on the roof of the Inland Revenue building before they send out any more tax demands'.

The serious answer is :-

1. Telford Hotel & Golf Club 01952 429977

2. Telford University Campus (??) 01902 323924

3. Telford Madley Court Hotel 01952 680068

Details from Helicopter Sitefinder

NB (please choose the IR option!)

Thanks guys - there were some useful suggestions there. I will try Bob Pooler first. I know him but did not realise that his strip was so close to Telford. DHFS Shawbury use my field to land in regularly so perhaps I should ask for a return favour and use theirs. However it is a Saturday and they don't work on Saturdays!
