Restricted private messages / Joining Private Forum
I need to contact someone who has replied to a question I've posted in another forum, but apparently the admin restricts use of the private inbox to users with less than three posts. My question is: does a reply to someone's post also count as a post? Or do I have to create three original posts like this?
I think you need more than three, unless they've changed it. People have been posting complaints and questions about this for eons, yet it still goes on. Why don't they explain it as part of the account creation process? Beats me.

Well, the endless questions and complaints, for years and years, proves that method doesn't work. You could try my suggestion, or you could carry on. I note you haven't said whether the required number of posts is now three. It used to be ten. But why bother to provide information when you can be deliberately obtuse?

PM limitations are linked to this, so you will be restricted to one PM in your mailbox until you have more than eight qualifying posts.
There you go, thread starter's question answered. Thank you SP.
I still think the account creation process should include a screen, IN BRIGHT RED BOLD CAPITALS that explains you must have a posting history to use PMs. I understand why you wouldn't want to include specific numbers at that point.
Why people come to a forum and immediately want to PM people is another matter. Forums are for public discourse. Yet there is an endless parade of newbies who want to use PMs immediately upon their arrival. A pox on them.

Hi all,
Is there any way to gain access to private messages without having to make 3 posts. I joined the forum primarily to access a private airline forum which I can’t do without first sending a private message. Is it possible for an admin to grant this privilege. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

I’m trying to join the Easyjet forum. When I click the hyperlink I get the following
The administrator has restricted use of the private message system to members with less than 3 posts.
I will make a few more posts then see if it works.

Joining a private forum
Hello,
New here… I’m trying to join a private airline forum, but I am unable to send a private message request to join. Does anybody know how I can start sending private messages?
Thanks

You do not have access to Private Messages until you have accumulated ten posts.
Enjoy the other open access forums and try again after you have the required number of posts.

Anything from 1 minute to 12 hours (longer if contentious), depending on when its posted and how many mods are active. Remember, all the moderation is by volunteers.

Mods clear posts as they come across them in each Forum. Any posts still in the queue are cleared around 1900Z each day.
If you make a post but don't see it n the Forum please do not make a second post as you probably won't see that post either. Deleting multiple posts is a tedious task.

PM's are a major source of spam and villainy (Taylor Swift tickets anyone?) - I know of several other boards that require a phone number or email or a website before ANYONE can start PM-ing others. This forum is relatively relaxed
