Post interview/selection feedback requirement

Speaking to a university Business lecturer recently, it now appears that there is a requirement for a prospective employer to profide feedback if specifically asked for. This would be along the lines of why you were unsuccessfull in your job application.

Can anyone in the know confirm this? I'm sure many of us who have been unsuccessfull in the past would appreciate a reason, rather than clutching at straws.

Boomerang.

I am aware that this is the case for Government Jobs, where a selection panel is used and selection criteria are addressed by the interviewee.

An unsussessful applicant may ask for feedback from the Panel.

As it being a requirement for the Private Sector, I haven't heard of it before.

Cheers
