Where Can I Do My Instrument Rating

Hey all
I was wondering which would be the best place for me to do my instrument rating. I am currently in Adelaide, however, wouldnt wanna miss the chance of going somewhere else and doing it. u know, vacation + studies + gals

also, how much does it cost? i am sure its gonna vary from school to school, but whats a rough bet on that?

&.... is it a good idea to do instrument rating after p.p.l or wait for my c.p.l to be over so that i can concentrate on IR after that? a lot of my american friends have done their IR after their P.P.L and so did many in the U.K. My instructor out here have been suggesting me to finish c.p.l first, and then devote all my time in IR. what do u guys hafta say abt this?

thanx and cheers.

Richie

I did my rating at Johnston Aviation Services at Port Macquarie. Very professional, very good, I had a great time there and reasonable cost.

Check out the website:

http://www.johnstonaviation.com.au/frames.html

I did my CIR as part of my CPL, however, I had all the necessary hours (in my case 200) and theory out of the way first. I suggest that you complete the CPL first as it will give you a little more aviation experience before taking on what I found to be a very difficult course.

Whoever you choose, make sure that they have a good reputation in the aviation industry as it will pay dividends later.

Have a good time.

Richie-rich, if you do your IFR as part of your Cert IV (Aviation) then you shouldn't have to pay GST on the training you do - but you have to qualify for the 150 hr course.

Who is that handsome man named Benn in the picture gallery on the website? That toned physique should be banned from the internet!

As for the backpackers, well wow...bet there was a few calls on the MBZ that night along the lines of "XYZ departed overhead, climbing to 6076"
