Essendon HIAL
Does anybody know why the NOTAM stating the high intensity approach lighting (HIAL) Rwy 26 at Essendon keeps being extended?
Is the HIAL U/S and being repaired, or have the operators simply decommissioned it and keep extending the NOTAM.
If it has for all intents and purposes been decommissioned, isn't that a breach of the lease agreement which required the aeronautical facilities to be maintained?
When will be get our HIAL and thus reduced minima back!

Last I heard from a reliable source was that the lights initially had broken down, and that the present owners didn't want to spend the money to fix them. Perhaps now that EN's future is secure, they might look at getting them back up again.
