Posted to Melbourne then are we?

For those of you lucky enough to be posted to;

" One of the world's most livable Cities " or
" That beautiful City by the Harbour etc etc,

I have a large country house well suited for commuting to the Airport an easy 35 minutes and 15 gear changes away up the freeway.

It is close to schools, hotels and vineyards with the occasional trail for walking thrown in. It would be available for 6-12 months lease.

If interested then email me here via pprune.

Cool

All very confusing!

The thread title refers to Melbourne, then you speak of beautiful, sunny, hospitable Brisbane:

"One of the world's most livable Cities" or
"That beautiful City by the Bay" etc etc.

Melbourne of course, is not the end of the World, but you can see it from Swanston Street. I think it is aptly described as the best illuminated cemetary in the World?

FM Radio Stations and Number plates - they're say the same thing all around the world, no matter what city you're in !

Why even the competitions are the same.

I am going to go to work, turn the radio off and unplug my headset just to stare out the window.

No, I am not a flight Engineer....

Ah Melbourne beautiful one day, perfect the next ,
or was that Sydney?

Hmm.

Talking Torres, you crack me up!

I think it was Vince Sorrenti who said: "Ahh, Queensland...Beautiful one day, Japanese the next "

Well, it was the '80s and a lot of 'em have pulled out I believe

Ahhhh Melbourne. The sporting, resturant, music, cultural captial of this great nation.

Why on earth would you have it any other way (apart from the lack of flying prospects...)

Queensland;
Beautiful one day, perfect the next and boring the day after that.

Now Melbournes the only place where you can drive into the undrerground carpark with the sunroof open from a gin clear day and Vivaldi or Rossini going flat out on the 12 speaker sound system in the car and emerge into the street in a thunderous downpour complete with sturm und drang.

But I just love it.

THE ABSOLUTELY UNBEATABLE ADVANTAGE

Most importantly, think of the holiday scenario for those of us who live in Melbourne (I'm actually in the hills to the East and cannot understand why the Army never put a barracks here - they picked all the other inhospitable places).

Why are we the winners?

Coz, wherever - repeat wherever - we go away for a holiday we know the weather there is always going to be better.
Cheers

Achieving absolutely nothing here for 1000fps and his rental prospects but thought I may as well join in the battle.

It's an oldie but a goldie that the best thing ever to come out of Melbourne is the Hume Highway, but I've spent six months in Melbourne on two separate occasions, covering all seasons, and four years in Sydney, and have to say that if I had to live in one or the other I'd probably plump for Melbourne, unless I had unlimited funds to buy a place on the harbour. It's all pretty subjective, but Melbourne does have charm to me.

Mind you, everything they say about the weather in Melbourne is true, but Sydney's weather is overrated for mine. If you want to know what winter should feel like, visit the Whitsundays.

Summer? Hmm, perhaps Merimbula or somewhere in the vicinity would be about right.

Got to agree with TIM,

The only time I smile in ML is when doing the "Strathbogie 1" and accelerating away from the place!

One thing that has always amazed me is how miserable the ground staff always are! I guess I would have the sh!ts too if I had to get around on the ML tarmac all day all year round

Cheers,
I'm gone! (back to sunny QLD!!)

The best thing about Melbourne is that it is second only to Hobart in closeness of proximity to NZ.

Probably the most appropriate comment I ever heard about BNE or QLD in general, was whilst flying north one fine day and the Capt. said

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have just crossed the Queensland border. You should all now wind your watches back 20 years".

Spent 10 years living in Sydney. A great place to visit but I'm glad I no longer have to live there. The standard of living in Melbourne is far greater.

Besides, in Melbourne if you don't like the weather, wait 20 minutes and you'll have a whole different season!

Better than going troppo up north.

Yep, sub-tropical QLD was surely blessed by the WX gods!!!

The Whitsundays for winter......you'll get no arguement from me.

On the other hand, all that sun may have gotten to Beattie and Sir Joh. With Q enjoying the highest rate of childhood tooth decay in OZ & still refusing the chlorinate the water; the largest school class size in Oz; and full-time education that starts a year later than all the others kids in Oz........it seems the Bananas are intent on enjoying all that sun!!!

The QLD snowfields have a very short season compared to Vics too!!!!

Ahh Queensland......beautiful one day.....Yamba, Hector & Beattie the next!!!
