Lyndon (Don) Griffiths 1922-2003

Lyndon (Don) Griffiths 1922-2003
Sad to report that Don Griffiths passed away in Bega Hospital today (28 April 2003) after a short battle with cancer.

Don spent the last years of his aviation career as owner/operator of Merimbula Air Services and retired several years ago to his cottage at pambula Beach. He will be remembered for a long career in aviation - Battle of Britain Pilot - Empire Test Pilot School - and thence numerous airlines of the world - famous and infamous - he spent several years at Moorabbin selling aircraft before going into semi-retirement at Merimbula. Several wives and several children during his lifetime - although one always got the impression that aviation was his life. His most treasured possession - the photo of himself receiving his DFC from the King along with other photo's of amazing events - always a tale to tell. Another aviation chapter closes.

Funeral details to come.

Thanks for posting OP - I wasn't sure how I could complement his life in words.

He was my hero.
Sorry I couldn't be there at the end.

From what I can remember I think he might have also been Chief Pilot of Singapore Airlines when they first started and flew 707's.
Always a gentleman and always a legend.
