Just wondering if anyone has completed their ATPL studies using Trevor Thom Texts at home in their own time? Oh yeah, and passed that is! Any comments, thoughts or recommendations on studying ATPL on my patmalone would be appreciated. Money is tight you know.

Yes ANG737, but if you bothered to read the Question it had nothing to do with where to do ATPL theory, but for genuine people who have self studied and passed. Perhaps some insight on the reference material to use, perhaps of a Library which has ATPL related reference material. For those that can afford a course, well of course you would go to AFT course. There has got to be someone that has self studied ATPL without doing a course.

ATPL
I know many a pilot who has self studied the ATPL and succeeded eventually. Firstly my aplogises to all. Secondly I think CASA have a recommended list of reference material to self study. I found that the Aviation Theory Centre books helped considerably.
Check out Aviation Theory Centre
Get in touch with the beaur of met for the met books. BOM
Make sure you rehearse the questions over and over again. Get hold of some practise exams from some where. I am not sure whether AFT sell just the practise exams but it might be worth a shot...
Lastly good bloody luck with the study. Its a milestone that is a huge achievement...

It would be a good idea to go to the CASA examinations page and download the ATPL Syllabus and go through that whilst you study to make sure that you don't overlook any part of the syllabus.
Also, get hold of some practice examinations which can be purchased (Rob Avery has books and CD's) which are helpful to get an idea of the questions as wellas Cyberexam 'technique'.
Best of luck with it all...just make sure you put in the work too.
