Job in Australia with European ATPL?

Hi,

I am curious if it is possible to get a job in Australia, if you had your ATPL training in Europe with the JAR-regulations? What do you need to do, to get your ATPL- license valid in Australia

Little to no chance, Reddo is the expert on this subject, but you will need 1500 plus hours to get a multi engine piston job, and 2500 hours to get a Metro or Bandit job, when I studied there I was told there were 30,000+ people with pilot licence's, not sure how many have a CPL or above though.

1 x Air law exam, plus any skills tests,Medical etc, Flight training as required and you will not be treated like S$$$t, either by CASA or the FTO'S, unlike the (some) FTO's here.
None of the'' approved course'' bull^&%t, just buy the air law book, self study it, when ready pay your fee $100 AUD and also you can take the AIP in the exam. No attempt limit either.

Yapio,
Check out the CASA website as someone has suggested. It's pretty good and should give you all the necessary info.
Getting the right to work is the difficult one. There are many visas around, check out Dept of Immigration for more info.
Why do you want to go to Australia? Is it the lifestyle (fair enough , the weather, (understandable too) bush flying? Or you want to fly jets straight off?
Plenty of bush flying but even more pilots chasing that elusive job. It's great fun I can tell you but hard work for not that much money. Airline work? As stated above, just about no chance what so ever with less than 2-3000 hours with at least 1000 hours on twins. (QF is an exception but you'll still need a minimum of 500 hours in command).

We are here in the UK for a very good reason - and it's not the weather

If your planning on coming to Australia then, just like the others have been saying you will need to do the ATPL Air Law componant and pass any flight tests for whatever ratings you want to use, IR, NVFR etc.

When it comes to looking for work, dont expect to walk into a job. Your going to have to start touring the country... get yourself a car and start driving. Expect to be looking for quite a while, so it will be usefull if you can pull beers, sweep hangars, shovel s##t and chase cows. Just remember that there are thousands of unemployed pilots in oz doing exactly the same thing.

If your prepared to fork out for an instructor rating then perhaps your more or less garunteed a job on the coast somewhere, if not in a capital city. Saying that however, flying training here is somewhat slow at the moment.

Airlines... get yourself 1500 minimum with 500 multi, and your in with a chance. If QF is your goal, join the queue... its going to be a long wait.

Why dont you put this post in the Dunnunda and Godzone forum... you will get heaps of advice from there.

Hope that helps.
