Essendon Airport : Runways and buildings.
I flew into Essendon the other day for the first time in ages and was intrigued by the remains of the NE-SW aligned runway.
What were the alignment directions of this runway ? Was it sealed or part grass ? How long was it ? When was it last used ?
I understand that there were some hangars over on the Reservoir side of the N-S runways but that have long since been demolished.
Can someone advise where these hangars (and other buildings ?) were located and how many were there ?
Questions. Questions. How about a few answers from old Essendon hands.

IT HAS BEEN ALONG TIME "CJ" cause I've been aviating over 30yrs and it's before my time I think.
All my career there's been N/S, E/W and I think remains of one that ran NW/SE.
Any book on Ansett or TAA usually has some early photos of Essendon, good luck.
