NZ Class 1 Medical

Hi I Wanted to find out what was involved I'm getting a Class 1 NZ medical? Is there an equicalent of AvMed in NZ where they can hold things up?

Not really, the AME has the authority to issue you the Class 1 on the spot. CAA medical only get involved if something on the day is outside of the guidelines. None of this bull**** where the DAME signs you off and then AVMED starts interfering.

Was thinking of going to NZ to do CPL and do some mountain flying for a change!

That’s what you get when the regulator recognises and trusts those that THEY appoint as medical examiners.
By pre booking the medical tests and having all the paperwork in order before I left home, it took me five days to have an Aussie ATPL converted to the equivalent NZ licence, with the licence in my hand on the 5th day. ECG was done by the AME, so that saved an expensive appointment with a cardiologist.
