To all PNG wantoks; the Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare has passed away in Port Moresby. Pancreatic cancer.

Sir Michael has certainly been the best PM PNG has ever had, and his legacy will be remembered for many generations to come.

I recall being given the privilege of flying Sir Michael from Wewak to Moresby a few moons ago.

Knew The Chief quite well, along with other early Prime Ministers and Ministers.
