Hour Building

Hi All,

Apologies if this belongs in the private forum however I'm hopeful my query will be better suited here

I've almost finished my PPL and have everything planned timeline wise, schools and so fourth for onwards commercial training in the future however I am now considering Australia / New Zealand for the majority of my hours as an alternative to the USA, namely Pirates Paradise and/or Chandler Aviation in Arizona for a few reasons. After a good few searches I have been unable to find any schools or local airfields that offer hour building or reasonable rental prices comparable to the US.

Please can anyone provide information on hour building in Australia if possible and/or licence conversion if this is as straightforward as the FAA conversion.

Thanks in advance,
B

There seems to be a dirth of pilots to do glider towing at Australian clubs, and getting into Jump flying can lead to hours in some good machines like Caravans and twin Otters, so those might be useful avenues.

A 172 will set you back $350-$400 an hour (dual). Anything less I’d be questioning the standards. There are some operators trying to grow their business by using less expensive aircraft such as a foxbat in an effort to lure those who cannot afford such rates.

Its an expensive place to fly...period.
