It was rumored until an FOI confirmed it at a Xmas Party.

And the ceo/das that stated 'we are policemen'. was confronted with the proof that 3 of his employees had been proven to be criminals, he gave the lie to that statement.

He should have said...we are policemen against the industry, but we are not policemen when it comes to CYA for staff. We are the Houdinis... the escape artists.
Dont go straight to jail, you employee chaps...Let CAsA help and get you off the hook. you !

MLE,
I know EXACTLY what happened at the time, including up to the board meeting where Leroy tendered his resignation to Dick.
BUT, it was the circumstances, of which that was the inevitable outcome, that was so reprehensible, Leroy was set up for the fall by his opponents in CASA, I can't name them for the obvious reasons.
Same kind of thing happened when Ron Cooper fell off his chook shed --- once he went, the "iron ring" contrived for his reform minded supporters to be shafted, and that brief period of reform evaporated --- any of you remember the saga of FOI 13.1 and the whole issue of "enforceable policy".
Tootle pip!!

Nah !

A 'policeman' simply enforces the law of the land.

A certain organisation seems to manufacture the law to its own advantage as it goes.......and ..... makes it unreadable to those it is 'supposed' to serve.

There IS a difference.

So true. Ron Cooper supported and drove cost reductions. He understood the necessity. His accident was a disaster for Australian aviation industry.

CLM

Worked for Ron Cooper a couple of times in both RAAF and civilian guises. A great guy who knew the difference between Command, Leadership and Management and knew when to apply each one for best effect.

Pity several after him in both the RAAF and CAA did not have the same ability.

Put this in your diary for 24 April 18 - I agree with Dick on this one.

MJG
Not sure his decision on the CFS Colour bearer was correct - my right arm still hurts.
