Careflight NT
Folks,
Airline pilot working overseas, looking to return home. Aeromedical experience earlier in GA career, therefore curious about working conditions flying King Airs for Careflight ex- Darwin. I see they're advertising again.
Quite some years (decades!) since last flew single pilot/remote area, but tick all other boxes (15k + total time, turbine command, flown King Airs before etc).
Thoughts? Many thanks in advance.
Verbal.

VK,
CareFlight also fly Beechjet 400s and are looking for crew too. Jet CA pay is $104k+ and the kingair guys on high acuity are I think ~$130k+.
CF is great to work for, good lifestyle and culture. Give them a call and have a chat.

Peers currently working there tell me its generally a very good place to work. As DYS said, good lifestyle with the King Air guys on a 4 on / 4 off roster, although a fair bit of overtime for the guys there with the industry shortage, but are fairly remunerated for additional days. Was in the region of $800 each day I'm told.
Good use of simulators with the Beechjet pilots doing x2 visits to Flightsafety each year and King Air using a flight sim in Norway, although this is changing with the Maroochydore simulator.
They do seem to be short of guys across all types with Darwin basing being a downside to the whole deal, although again some like what that place has to offer.

RFDS Qld is actively recruiting, as are RFDS SE, Central and Westops.
Qld and SE have B200s and 350s, Central and WestOps are PC12. PC24s coming for most Sections.

Thanks very much for the info, Al. They're all fantastic machines, & would relish the chance to get back into one. More importantly though, to do something of value & benefit to people who really need it. Best Regards, Verbal.
Long term viability with RFDS moving in to town?
When’s the tender renewal?
Just putting it out there.........

FWIW RFDS just missed out on a Top End ground based intra-hospital transfer service contract (to CareFlight) so IMO nothing’s gonna change any time soon up there

Thanks you both for a very entertaining Dorothy Dix question and answer session. A Maccas manager in Darwin gets paid more than $104K+ and they don't need a jet endorsement.

Yeah, I've been quite interested in applying for this position in Darwin. Currently flying RPT in Dashies. Few years in PNG flying Dash's as well. Meet all req's quite easily.
Just been wondering what the work culture is like there, pay conditions ect. Have a brother there, and would be interested. If the wife agrees....
The work environment, management, collegues ect are quite important I think. Any info is rather appreciated.
cheers

Not 'most' sections. Central (1) & WestOps (3) only at this stage. Others have been pitched to, but nothing signed. Order book with Pilatus is still closed but they are considering re-opening it.

Anyone in the loop willing to PM me in regards to rosters and/or rostering options that might be considered for the King Airs? I meet minimums have experience on comparable aircraft and keen to work remote. I have plenty of info on EBA and type of operations, keen to know more about the Gove base?
Thanks in advance.
