Cyber Bullying Pilots
Every Airline I've flown for, certainly in the last decade, has had a strict "no photography" policy in security sensitive areas (e.g. the Flight Deck).
Many Pilots of course, do take photographs for their own personal collections. Usually of fascinating weather/landscapes etc looking OUTSIDE the Flight Deck rather than in it.
How these idiots are able to get away with such public profiles of inflight selfies is beyond me. Forget the bullying, why haven't they been fired for such blatant breaches of company policy?

Cyber bullying ?? Have you noticed that toilet walls are much cleaner these days, ie, far less graffiti, name dropping, and drawings ?
Why is that, you may ask. Well, nowdays everyone while perched on the bog is usually catching up with stuff on their phones and has no time to do stuff on the wall.
Is that too subtle for some people ?
Mix up your Cement pills with a bit of Araldite.

Hardly see said website/fb/instagram account as cyber bullying...
It’s more satire in my view... with a niche audience obviously...
One does not have to be prominent in society in order to be ripe for satire. Satire is a genre... it has no other qualification. Anyone with a public profile on social media must accept it is just that, public. This is how “social” media works.
I recently had a comment of mine deleted off a thread in FB.... after posting again pointing that out, the response was “I don’t know you...”. The only problem being was that we had friends in common, and the post was public and involved said friend (therefore in my feed). This person displayed a basic lack of understanding of how FB works and that there is a larger audience...
The post on Rededit detailing private aspects of one of the people in question is closer to cyber bullying and probably should be taken down.
Comments relating to professionalism of some photographs being taken at appropriate times and places are also in my opinion valid, and hence ripe for satire to point that out...

Elzicho, are you serious? “Security sensitive”....puhlease...
Just go to any book written on aeroplanes or any aviation mag, or airliners.net and you can find a pic of just about any flight deck you choose.
I have not see any policies regarding the taking of pics in the flight deck. I have seen a social media policy though..

Social media policies are also in place, and limit/prohibit what a person can post online that identifies them as an employee of the Airline e.g. while in uniform. So flightdeck selfies, in uniform, is a double edged sword.
I’ve flown for 3 Airlines in the past 10 years (roughly) who all had similar policies, which these Instagram pilots would be in breach of.
And let’s be honest, just because you can find a photo on the internet, doesn’t mean it was taken legally...

I can remember reading some very profound, witty and erudite things in various bogs around the place!
Indeed, some sayings could have their own thread!!
Apologies to Tailwheel but.....
Noted in the Mens bogs of Opal Air; The old GA section of YPAD, around 1982

..........
PM me for the rest!
Pinky, yeah, but what is concerning is the normalisation of the concept of 'cyber bullying' as something actually substantial, and everyone having hurt feelings due to having their little entitlement bubbles being burst by a snide remark on social media.
We should all remember that most of what people here are describing isn't really "Cyber Bullying" but there is an especially nasty side to it as well, people being barraged with the most vile of messages and threats for no good reason as well, so let's not get that confused with what we seem to be mostly talking about here and bundle it all together.
Ix, is it that people who have grown up with the beeping thing in their pockets regard anonymous cyber threats to be as real as everything else on the screen, whereas the previous generation who lived through and survived the era of rotary dial phones and bushy sideburns regard such threats as evidence of impending trans-sexuality in the other party ?
"Good morning, can I book a trunk call to Kalgoorlie 785634, I am Rockingham 242010."

Wawa, back in the day of your rotary dial, if you had people constantly calling and threatening you harm how would you have responded? They would have been anonymous as well (no caller ID afterall)? Would you just have suggested that person disconnect their phone and cut themselves off from it? How about if someone you loved was receiving anonymous threats? Because that's what I consider to be "Cyber Bullying" and has real effects on people.
Such things have gone on for a long time in many forms, people pushed over the edge by rumours and harassment, this is simply the latest form of it. Also I also don't see how people making threats would be evidence of their "Impending trans-sexuality".
The fact is that there are a lot of vulnerable people out there, vulnerable for whatever reason, perhaps their mental state has been affected by a terrible upbringing, perhaps they have a genuine disorder that means they're less able to ignore such things, could it be some sort of PTSD etc...etc... To simply suggest that people being harmed mentally by such things is a generational thing does nothing to help the situation and infact goes a long way to making things worse.
As I was trying to say, there's putting up a photo of yourself expecting everyone to be wowed but having them instead go the other way and be ridiculed for seeking attention and then there's people on the receiving end of some extremely nasty vitriolic personal attacks, things like bombarding their email and social accounts with death threats, doxing (which is where the search out your personal details such as where you live, your full name, where you go to school etc... and post it up for everyone to see). 2 different levels and one of which should not be confused for the other and definitely should not be ridiculed or played down.

Ix, the direct answer to your first question would have been - to regard it as entertainment, since their chosen means of anonymous communication is the measure of who and what they are. Each to his own.
Yes I'd agree that there are people out there at any time who may be vulnerable to the remarks of others, whether it be over a rotary dial phone or Roman graffiti scrawled on a wall in Pompeii ('Blutus Maximus does sheep'). Its however regrettable that anyone would place any value on an anonymous comment from someone too nervous and bitchy to say it in person. Rather than use the label 'cyber bully' to dissuade or in some way impair the sender's kind thoughts, would it not be better to instead build up and enhance the recipient ?
I certainly agree that exploiting their vulnerability is very distinct to a richly deserved bagging of the more resilient S/O Bloggs because of his selfie doing a one armed bench press, etc.

Back in the days of the rotary dial brings to mind something from the past.....
In my second job in the 'paradise' of PNG I discovered one morning that all was not as it seemed!
Long story made short; It turned out that all Pilots of the Company I then flew for received on average about one telephoned death threat per week!!
They were invariably anonymous, the caller refusing to identify themselves (for obvious reasons) and fairly abrupt in terms of time taken in the call and verbosity.
I was briefly somewhat perturbed upon learning of these threats until a regular at the Club Dero who was a high ranking member of the PNG Constabulary quietly pointed out that if someone really means to kill you they rarely, if ever, inform you of that beforehand!
The point of the above is that Life is on occasion not all that pleasant an experience.
And for what it's worth, I was somewhat unmercifully bullied right through out my Schooldays because I was (then) a bit of a 'shortarse' (4'2" at age 14) and a spectacles wearer! So nearsighted I could not read newspaper headlines beyond about four feet distances.
(At 16 I was 5'9"though.)
I will concede that these days cyber bullying can be and probably is a damn sight more vicious than the which I had to endure but I will also never ever forget something that a Prefect at the College I attended in 1967 once said to me when I had just been rescued, a bit teary, from a bit of 'attention' from some more senior boarders....
"What are you? A boy or a Man? Drink a glass of wet cement and harden the f*** up!"
Just my take on it. Call it what you will; My opinion will not change.

Not written by Warwick I'll bet.
You're probably quite correct there, Megan.
I also doubt that either Murray, David, Keith or Richard were responsible for it either!

Cyber bullying is an epidemic that mostly affecting prepubescent teenagers. Apparently now this toxic fad has spread into Australian aviation.
Flown with bullying type Captains that completely disregard CRM and one notable diy SOPS who just about stayed on the right side of the QAR.
