Exercising rights of a PPL as a CPL under Part 61
Hi guys - hoping someone can point me to the regs that I can't seem to find.
I was certain that under the old CAR 5 scheme, under privileges and limitations of the CPL license, there was a provision that stated a CPL holder could exercise the rights of a private pilot.
I never held a PPL, only a CPL (originally issued as CAR 5) and I was under the impression that I could exercise the rights of a PPL and with a Class 2 if my Class 1 had lapsed.
I have looked through CASR Part 61:
I can't find a reference to what I think is the law. Can anyone please assist ?

That's still the case under Part 61.
CASR 61.570 sets out the privileges of the CPL (these include everything you can do with a PPL), and 61.415(2) allows you to perform activities equivalent to a PPL on the basis of your CPL and a Class 2 medical (no current Class 1 required).
Alternatively, you can apply for the issue of a PPL on the basis of 61.515(4) and your CPL.
Hope this helps!
