Radar installation
A pax friend asked me the other afternoon what is the radar instal situated just s/w of Yred. All these years and I've never noticed it....but its there as you can see it when driving west through Rothwell.
PS. True confessions!! I was NEVER a good VFR pilot, all towns, roads rail silo's etc etc looked the same to me. I obtained my IR very early in my career and even when instructing was always pulling radials/dme or a bearing off somewhere!!!

Found the other 4 + 1, a bit further North near Ningi, just off Bribie Island Road.

The little one south of YRED is most likely a private antenna. What for?? ![Confused](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies/confused.gif)
The array at Ningi near Bribie Island is the old OTC installation or Telstra now. From there a lot of Overseas Telecommunications Company traffic was processed.
It was allso the sight for "Brisbane Radio" the Marine equivelant for BNE CEN if you like. I used to have marine skeds's logged and you could actualy use the radio for radio-telephone connections. Not very private but they worked great. Latter in the piece you could make an automated call through there via VHF and only half the call was public
. Pre mobile phones, but they had repeaters up the coast so BN Radio was easy to get and so were phone calls. Was a great radio
