CAA Man in email forgery accusation

Civil Aviation Staffer Accused Of Forging Email | Stuff.co.nz

The man accused of forging an email given as evidence at the inquest into a deadly mid-air collision over Paraparaumu is a former Civil Aviation Authority safety investigator.

Peter James Kirker of Lower Hutt was charged with forgery, attempting to pervert the course of justice and using a forged document.

Name suppression lapsed for the 52-year-old this morning.

Kirker, who was the CAA's manager of safety investigation, resigned last week

He had been suspended from his duties, pending the completion of an employment investigation which was sparked by the criminal charges.

Three men - David Fielding, James Taylor and Bevan Hookway - died after the mid-air collision at Paraparaumu in February 2008.

Peter comes across as one of the most honest guys about. There may be a little more to this.

I knew of one particular act of the early 80's, we all shook our heads and said 'who could be that honest ?' and it was career changing stuff.

I would be very keen to hear the whole story.
