"pending Clearance"
Perhaps I am just getting old and cranky -
I have noticed an increase in the use of 'climbing to FL??? / PENDING CLEARANCE'
Have I missed an amendment in Jepps or AIP ?- I can find no reference in departure reports to "PENDING CLEARANCE"

Very simple, it show's lack of professionalism. Why? Because you obviously haven't read the AIP in a while and are aware of the rules applicable to your flight.
I cringe nearly every day with the lack of professionalism shown on the radio. Why can't people get it right?
morno

aaah! the much loved term is still alive and well.
It came about a few years back for a different reason but today an attempt to acknowledge to ATC that yes we know we need a clearance to enter class echo airspace and you dont need to remind me and then require me to read that back. A statement that is equally superfluous.
Personally I'd rather have pending clearance that doesnt require a readback, or nothing at all than, remain clear of class echo airspace that does.
Bring on the debate
