Thumbs down Redundacies

A number of redundancies at RACWA today. Not sure how many but it's only a token few as I understand it. Wont be enough to stave off the inevitable I'm afraid.
What a bunch of lightweights the Committee is. Well meaning perhaps, but completely devoid of any talent and led by someone lacking any commercial nous.
Now they've installed an accountant as GM.

Maybe the new GM is just there to "wrap things up" ?

Sad for the employees

Mooney - so you've registered your expression of interest for the GM role when it comes up in 3 months? No? Not enough nous?

My turn....

AIRSIC - spot on mate.

ICARUS - you have no sense of commercial reality with your comments and mis-guided beleifs.

MM- a sad day, but this is the start of what the club needs to do, before it leaves people damaged and out of pocket too.

So the bean counter takes the reins. Run for the hilllllsssssssssss !

Perhaps it needs a bean counter to identify all marginal and unprofitable centres, cease them immediately and get realistic commercial rates of return in other areas?

First of all, learn to spell beliefs.

Secondly you are saying that my beliefs are misguided because they are different to yours. So how do we know that you are correct?

That is simply your belief. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one and some of them stink.

You also missed the point of my post which was the continued sniping by anonymous posters about the ability of all and sundry at RACWA. The point is that some of you seem to assume that you could do better, well show us how.

T28d - yep I have changed my view Tony. Based on facts I am now aware of and not rumor.

Sweet - fan of the President are you? And no I certainly don't want that poison chalice.

Wiley - you're right, it does need to purge. Problem is that some of the good people will get caught up in it, and they shouldn't. I had high hopes for the new Committee, but clearly that was misplaced.
I smell panic in the Committee room. There really needs to be a Special General Meeting to assist with the purge - of the incompetent Committee.

If anyone's doing that, make sure you have a full new committee ready to step in. Sounds obvious, but people don't always do it and the ensuing shemozzle is worse for the organization than the the lousiest committee.

Make sure they've all agreed, can turn up at the SGM and you have all the positions covered. A few vague assurances along the lines of 'Bob might be keen' is not enough. Also make sure you can muster up enough people to pass the motion, it's embarassing to turn up with twenty and face forty supporting the Committee. Better not to try if you can't be sure of the numbers.

Mooney Maniac, so now you know what the business community has known for some time, not a pretty picture.

Worrals really good advice and can I add if you are giong to move on the current comittee be sure your new comittee candidates are BUSINESS PEOPLE of some standing who know the difference between margin / profit and understand cost control.

I truth the aero club being within the Aviation Reglation environment and thus quite prescriptive in meeting regulatory requirements should be easy to manage, has a defined rule book.

I wonder what BANKWEST think with Murray gone and so much uncertainty? They must be very nervous. They may step in before a meeting is called & just appoint an Administrator. Better than a Receiver or Liquidator.

T28D - that's a pretty arrogant statement from someone with enough problems of his own with angry franchisees - not to mention the AOPA debacle. Well done on that one. And God help the country if the government took any of your advice on the NBN.
What saddens me about all of this, is that you seem to want RACWA to fail from which you will apparently derive some sort of perverted satisfaction or vindication. You're talking about people's lives and livelihoods here. Who or what are you taking aim at? Committees, management, members or what - I don't get it. You're not a member and you don't fly any of Racwa's aircraft so what's it to you if it lives or dies?

I have no idea what goes through the committee minds. Firing senior instructors is STUPID. If they want to get rid of this debt, don't sack instructors, SELL MURRAYFEILD. YMUL is under used and is sucking money out of the club. The Aviation College is a profitable organisation if run properply. Selling YMUL would clear the debt straight away. What I can't understand is why the fools in charge will not sell it. Its time for real istict thinking. Forget about club fly-in's and make it a business!!!!!

I think it's 5 now. There wont be a MECIR much longer. The instrument instructors have left or have been moved along. I don't know why they got rid of them. Ones of the twins were constantily flying, thats going to make money not having them sit on the apron.

Bye

Members of RACWA........

It is with a heavy heart that I write to advise the end is here.

After many years of mismanagement, lies, scandal and mistrust, the Bank of WA WILL BE FORCED to appoint an Administrator to the club.

HOW DO I KNOW???????

I know personally, that 3 VERY WISE and concerned members approached the CEO and the Committee to offer their PROFESSIONAL CORPORATE advice to the club, pro-bono!

Their experience and achievements speak for themselves! ICARUS - they are multi millionaires in their own rights and successful in that do not need to work - not that this means much but you obviously think it does!

They offered to the club an ability to sell all of YMUL (they had a buyer), at full valuation price, keep a parcel of land for RACWA and be a share holder in the development of YMUL. This would see RACWA with -

NO DEBT
Shares in a profitable project
Free land where no rent ever needs to be paid again
A new fleet of A/C
Money left over to be invested for the future

Unfortunately....the President......decided that this idea was no good......not even put to the members!!!! WHY?!?!?! WHAT IS THE HIDDEN AGENDA?

HE insists that the aeroclub "MUST OWN THE RUNWAYS"

The bank will be forced to appoint an administrator on the basis that a number of current members are going to force the issue. An administrator has been sought and has already been advised that because BankWest are the registered first mortgage holders, they hold the 1st right over all assets of the club and will simply appoint their own administrator over all others.

I know that the valuation for YMUL is sub $6m.
I know that the debts to date are $3.5m + trade creditors
I also know that the administrator will charge fees in excess of the equity of the club, and as such, there will not be a club shortly.
I know that Mr P, a long term member, has forced the club to sign to a fee arrangement for consultation which is against the constitution.
I know the President agreed to this! EVEN THOUGH THE SAME SERVICES WERE OFFERED FOR FREE!!!!!

The CEO left because he could not agree to the "slash and burn" mentality. Quite frankly, the club does not have the cash flow to pay for the redundancies. The club needs a lot of the resources that were there just to keep the doors open! Some of the admin staff certainly could go but the Instructors and the CP/CFI are not disposable!!!

The people I am getting my info from have been in RACWA for a VERY long time and are so pis$ed at the way they were treated they have now turned their back on what was a great institution.

To all those that paid for "life membership"...I hope you can recover some of your funds.

I honestly CANNOT understand the MENTALITY = thought processes, of this present committee.......

Fancy passing up on an offer - a 'pro bono' offer... - like that..!!

I too am aware that with the recent departure of Mr 'Murray Korff, that it could well be that BANKWEST - the MAJOR CREDITOR - will now be forced to act, and to act quickly to protect their interests.....I have yet to see a 'Charitable' bank......

Things not moving fast enough for the present committee??

What are the odds now, of some VERY RAPID movement..???

Hope youse guys can keep up with the pace.....

'Tis a very sad day ......IMHO......

NO Cheers Just tears....
