Essendon Airport (AUS)

Hi all,

I'm building a diorama of Essendon Airport and was hoping people here had pictures of it in it's heydays (1950's-1971). I've checked quite a bit of the net and have only turned up with the National Archive pictures and a few flickr pictures.

I'm also looking for airport diagrams of the time.

It seems that there are quite a few Aussies on PPRuNe and I hope that someone can help me

Thanks,

Mike

The following pics are from this website. Ern Mainka Aviation Archive

It's hard imagine today that the airport where I did a lot of my GA training from once catered for 727s, DC9s and F27s.

I noticed this had a few photos and a VAR approach within:

YouTube - The Aircraft & Colours of TAA - Part 1

Can you post a picture of your completed project?

Have you looked here?

Airways Museum / Civil Aviation Historical Society

Click on "History" on the left, then go to Airports & Aerodromes, and other stuff under headings such as Air Traffic Services.

Worth a personal visit ........
