The Aeroplane Company has glass cockpit singles - Diamond DA-20s.
The only twins they have are a pair of Beech Barons (built in 1969 and 1971), and a 1979 Piper Seminole. I seriously doubt that they have glass cockpits, unless they've been converted.

As far as I know, the only WA-based glass cockpit twins would probably be VH-AHK, which is a Baron G58 (uses the Garmin G1000 system) owned by Starmind Investments, and a number of Diamond DA42 Twin Stars of Fugro Airborne Surveys. These wouldn't be available for training, if that's what you're after.

China Southern WA Flying College has a number of Piper Seneca V, but these have "semi-glass" cockpits - they each have twin GPS and weather radar screens, but with conventional dial-type flight instruments.

There's a number of DA42s with Flight Training Adelaide, so these may be your only option at the moment.

Regards,
David

Glass twins in WA.....surely you jest?

The Aeroplane Company has some Diamond 40's you could hire with the G1000, the Diamond 20's only have Garmin 430's (though one has a 530). Both of the Barons at TAC will are ready for mounting on a flag pole last I saw them. (One has no engines and looks almost derelict and the other at last check had 2ft of grass growing under it). Their seminole flys but is only day VFR (also a bit smelly). Air Aust has Seneca's 1 and 2 in avg condition and RVAC have an old seminole and an OK Partenavia. China Southern dont even use the Seneca's anymore as they have bought Seminoles but unless your a chinese national on cadet course you will be hard pressed. Ad Astral uses a Duchess that is very well equiped (RMI, HSI and Garmin 430) however in it is at Perth Domestic and is not avail for private hire, dual only. Slim pickings I am afraid.

Diamond DA-40s and DA-20s are both single-engined, which is not what Sonic69was after. The DA-40 is a four-seat version of the DA-20.

The DA-42 Twinstar is twin-engined, and has a glass cockpit, but the only ones in WA are for geo survey only.

Sonic69, looks like you have to go to the eastern states to get glass cockpit twins for training (e.g. Flight Training Adelaide and their DA-42s).

DA.42 'Glass'......

Hi Guys,
Just as an aside, I was involved in a consortium which was planning to purchase and put 'on line' a DA.42 with 'Glass' cockpit, at JT, for the purposes of.....

However, on a cost of well over $875K to land and put on the OZ register, we found that the cost of hiring would be absolutely prohibitive - in the order of maybe $800 / hr to cover the purchase, interest, as well as running, maint. etc
The fuel was the ONLY cheap bit...

And then we figured that after gaining a 'Glass' experience, pilots would then be looking at the 'clocks' again in any charter / training acft they were fortunate enough to get a job, flying.
(If ya can't use it, why would ya want it??)

So, not so 'sadly' now... we declined. (Not 'sad'? Not with the associated probs the DA.42 is currently going through...) Phew.....

Cheers
