THE pilot of a light aircraft escaped injury when it crash landed at Sydney's Bankstown Airport today.
The male pilot was alone aboard the two-seater Cessna 152 when its landing gear failed on touchdown about 8.30am (AEST).
Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) spokesman Peter Gibson said the aircraft, owned by a flying school at the airport, was on a training flight.
"Apparently the aircraft was coming in for a landing or a touch-and- go ... pretty standard sort of exercises,'' Mr Gibson said.
"It may have been hit by a gust of cross winds. The nose landing gear collapsed and the aircraft came to a grinding halt.''
Paramedics at the airstrip confirmed the pilot was uninjured.
The CASA will prepare a report into the crash.

Really? I thought that was the job of the ATSB. And seeing that the pilot walked away, I don't think they will be interested.

Air Safety Investigators are investigating... Probably out there in the cold as we speak instead of in bed asleep.

Takes a lot to bend a poor little C150, but very glad the pilot got out OK.

...There was poor old PNZ propped up out there on Friday, too -

RHS engine feathered and nosewheel missing.

I'll bet THAT was exciting
