An attraction of the machine noted was LORAN. Does that work here? Does is still exist? Does anybody use it???

Folks,
Loran C is still available across North America, for how long, anybody's guess.
It was due to be shut down some years ago, but was reprieved due to the representations of the various industry association.
Even the direct plug in replacement GPS, Northstar etc., are now getting long in the tooth.

It works very well in certain areas, LORAN-C originally designed for shipboard navigation is very accurate when weather conditions are good, one of the drawbacks of the system is during stormy weather it's pretty much useless. Here's a link.
