Devonport Minimas

Just going through and doing some amendments and noticed this one.

Anyone care to explain how minimas at Devonport have increased by the following:

RWY24 RNAV CatA/B minima goes from 700' to 880',

RWY 24 VOR CatA/B minima goes from 730' to 880'

DPO NDB/VOR CatA/B minima goes from 740' to 880',

DME/GPS arrival goes from 740' to 880'.

A fair increase to all the minimas, has something been built on or near the airport on the approach path or the the aerodrome been resurveyed?

I do not know the real reason, however a couple of possibilies spring to mind.

1: The tide was out when the last survey was done.

or

2: The owner of the nearest suitable alternate airport did the survey and has ensured that he will financially benefit from a few more weather diversions in the future.

All said with T.I.C

Suppose it depends whether the Empress of Tasmania is going up the river at the time of the survey.

Rex or Eastern pilots have any idea why the increase in the minima?

Stationair8,

CIRCLING MDA CAT A/B 880-2.4, CAT C 980-4.0, CAT D 1210-5.0 AMD
AIP DAP EAST RWY 24 VOR EFFECTIVE 25 NOV 2004,
RWY 24 RNAV (GNSS) EFFECTIVE 17 MAR 2005,
NDB OR VOR EFFECTIVE 25 NOV 2004, AND
DME OR GPS ARRIVAL PROCEDURES EFFECTIVE 25 NOV 2004.
FROM 04 032238 TO 08 271600

My intepretation is that the CAT A/B circling minima has been raised to 880 -2.4, up from 840 - 2.4, giving a 40' increase.

Koizi, I use Jeppesen and are waiting for the April 4th Revision.

But the way I see it is the minima have all increased from around the 730' mark.

Haven't been into YDPO for a few years, so I was just interested in why the increase. The old Australian DME arrival was 830' from the North, likewise with the RWY24 VOR/DME it was 830' and those minima could be reduced by 100' with an actual QNH so brings them back to 730'. That was from DAPS East mid 1990's
