You're forgetting about the porters... didn't they coin the money!
Dad worked as a porter for AN in the early seventies, we never seemed to be short of cash back then...

Ahh yes, the porters...what a slippery bunch of characters they were!

We had one that used to pick up all the young Asian ladies off the flights...his nickname was Alpine...

I'd hope so. If they were grease-monkeys then you'd hope they could do their job better than I could...

Do you still reckon they could fly a jet "a damn sight better" than the guy who's paid to do it?

Or hand out peanuts? Or snatch bags? Okay they could probably snatch bags....

Spent 8 and a half years in heavy maintenance, first as an apprentice (like most of their engineers) and then as a tradey - great place to work initially but eyes were soon opened as to the reality of the place - no it wasnt all beer and skittles, they promoted some absolute dicks, but what company doesnt?

The main thing was there was a good crew of people to work with at the time, some people you prefer to forget the others I would like to know what happened to them, its been the best company I have worked for so far but my current employer is going the right way to take that mantle off them.

It was a great company to identify yourself with, but times change, it was the place that gave me a start as a AME, I wont forget that - there is the nostaglia, but the company was merely a stepping stone to bigger and better things, as well as better companies.
