NT Fuel and Landing Prices

NT Fuel and Landing Prices
Dear All!
I'm currently a student at Griffith University in Brisbane Australia. Some of you may have heard about the recent decision to allow a course that is somewhat linked with Qantas where-by our flight training fees can now be added to HECS!! (Or HELP as it is called now).
As part of this we currently have an assignment where-by we are the fictitious Chief Pilots of a small air craft up in Gove, NT. As such i'm looking for prices for airports in and around Gove such as Avgas and Landing Fees. Even just a generalisation of what Avgas and Landing Fees are like up that way would be excellent!
Additionally, (This will be posted to another more appropriate thread, but just incase!), we have been designated a Cessna 182 as our aircraft but are able to make adjustments to this (We have not been given any specs on the aircraft, we are to research currently available aircraft which i am currently doing and choose something appropriate). The jobs we are told we are undertaking are Mail Runs (no specifications on these) using the 182 and with this we are also being asked to draw up a Fisheries Tender.
Now my first issue is can people suggest alternatives to the 182 as my primary aircraft of use? I'm specifically thinking the 172 as it has a lower fuel consumption, which for a fictitious business based upon numbers appears to be the better choice.
Due to CAO48 we will also be operating at a maximum number of hours and as such will likely be required to Hire a second aircraft and pilot. What is an average pay for a pilot up that way (Hourly rates if possible), considering they will be doing a fisheries tender which will require coast following around Gove. Also we have been told that Hire Planes up that way (Just the plane itself) are hard to come by, is this true? If not, what sort of prices would one suggest for something along the lines of a Cessna 182 or 172?
Any help is appreciated as this is a slightly daunting task for a first year student with only 13hours of flight!!

Check ERSA for contact phone numbers of AD operators, landing charge info & fuel availability & contacts.
The Cessna 210 is your airframe of choice. Been proven many times over, they are still using them now.
Good Luck.

Probably because they are "tried and true" workhorses - go fast and lift a lot.
However I'd be looking at a new build C206 or Airvan. Not as fast but a lot cheaper to run and maintain. Keeping old airframes flying - you might as well piss your money up a aginst a wall! (Dunno if running costs other than fuel are a feature of your assignment but would assume so.)
Don't really think your ficticious mail will mind the extra 10 minutes flight time between a C210 and a C206/GA8.
And if you're flying express mail you could always get a new Bonanza.

Pilot Pay Question
That's an easy one. Pilot's pay is $125 per week gross ( I have group certificates to prove it) - That's full time by the way.
It was a few years ago, so probably $150 now.

Hahaha. So just to double check, its $150 a week now (Approximately) as a retainer? What sort of hourly rate would a pilot of a mail run be looking at then? Doesn't even have to specifically be for Gove or NT just in general!
You have to have your sarcasm detctor on a higher setting with these forums Ixixly. You have to read between the lines!!
If you want to get exact figures for pilot wages then go to the www.afap.org.au website and search for the General Aviation Pilots award. As your assignment will probably need to be fairly accurate I recommend you do this anyway as you will need this info when you get into working.
As a rough guide a mail run pilot will be on full time salary as mail runs are usually contracted to a company. the figure is around $32,000 give or take. Casual GA S/E pilot gets about $50 an hour (SHOULD get).
As for landing fees and fuel. Can't do much better than looking in your ERSA and calling up the Airport Manager for Gove and the local refueller.
As for aircraft- C210 all the way, if the mail run route is close in to Gover then 206, but if you have long legs to fly then the speed of the 210 is the way to go. Rough hourly break even rate for a C210 (depending on MANY factors) is around $350-$400 including fuel.

Wow, thanks Chadzat, the AFAP link is exactly what i've been trying to locate!! I've found some similar award pages on some government sites but they are usually out of date and/or irrelevant to what i need!
The information is muchly appreciated. If anyone still has anything they can suggest, hurdles they've had to overcome or specific figures i'm still looking around and it would do me a world of good! Thanks again everyone.
