What an idiot...
Sounds to me like those negative responses come from a group of over asumptive racist cheese dicks that think spinning is a foolish pursuit.
If Grobs are only certified for spinning with spats fitted it is probably that way for a reason. Furthermore what does CSWAFC's Training Operations Manual say in reference to spinning of aircraft?
Just because it looked good on video and the plane suffered no apparent damage doesn't make it right. A disregard for company procedures now is a good demonstration of the guys character which could manifest itself into the same mindset with far more serious consequences when he gets his hands on a widebody full of punters.

Obviously the lack of spats (if that's the case) wasn't detrimental.
The aircraft is ZTN, none of the CS Grobs have wheel spats fitted, most likely the only instructor they have who holds spin training approval is a guy who only does testing/LOFT in the jets. Furthermore, few years ago it wasn't in their operations manual, and in the unlikely event they had changed that, there is no way it would be conducted on a solo exercise.
As for the race thing, as YPJT said, you are the only one to have brought that into it. I couldn't care who it was. It's simple. Unless CS have introduced solo aerobatics to an airline cadet course (which no-one tells me they have) he was doing something in a plane not approved to do it, without the correct ticket to do it on his own and could have killed himself. The fact that he pulled out the first time to level flight with the stall warning still going is the first indicator he doesn't know what he is doing... he's lucky he didn't enter a seconday stall.

HASELL checks
Imagine the look on his face if he drop the camera, and it jammed under the rudder pedal.
He probably did'nt think that the camera is a loose item when doing HASELL checks or what ever. Items like fuel test bottles, camera lens covers and coins have jammed controls in the past resulting in aircraft spinning to ground(crash, burn, die etc).
Have heard on the grapevine that CASA watches Youtube as well. So if some at airport or one of your pax has a camera, you too could be the next pprune star.
Cheers MM

Interesting
This is all very interesting. Firstly how many hands does this young man have? He seems to give a thumbs up with his right? hand, followed by a wave with his left. Is he holding a comera with his "other hand. Is he a juggler?
Secondly. Are we really going to have airline pilots who have never experienced a spin, and do not know how to recover from, or prevent one?
Amazing. Will we have more stall/spin accidents in airliners?

Bushy,
I don't think anyone will argue the value of spin and recovery training. THe point here is that evidence available so far points to it being undertaken in an aircraft not approved for such maneuvers and against company (CSWAFC)training policy.

Another important point.
NO STUDENT at CSWAFC has been or ever will be trained in spinning even a normal upright spin, let alone inverted, crossover(from norm to inverted) accelerated, or flat spins etc. Spinning is not in the approved syllabus in their Ops Manual.
The students are only trained to recover from the incipient stage (ie wing drop) as per the Day VFR syllabus.
They have definately not been trained in the correct recovery techniques for a developed spin, and anyone who conducts spins in any aircraft that is either spin certified or not without proper training in recoveries and extreme unusual attitudes is a fool.
Spin training is a valuable thing when done properly but it this instance it was not. The student would never have had any proper spin training from his instructor/s.
Cheers,
Z
