Bring Our Aggies Back to D&G

When our aggies called for their own forum, and were then lumped into the Bizjet arena, we lost a lot of good, relevant input to GA here.

Yes, moderators, I know that they asked for it - but they have disappeared almost without trace in that 'foreign' forum.

There are 3 aggie threads out of the most recent 68 on the Bizjet,Ag & Other GA forum. By any stretch, this is a poor showing, and I'm told that it's due solely to being seperated from D&G.

Aggies are an important section of D&D GA. The lessons they learn, and the advice they give, are almost always applicable to GA pilots.

Moderators, please....how about getting them back into D&G GA & Q ?

happy days,

Why?

I reckon the reason the ag boys don't post on their forum is that they have run out of things to talk about! No water, no cotton, no cotton, no prangs, no prangs, no pprune. The ag industry is a very backwards one and no-one is going to hop on an anonymous forum and put forward ideas about how to do things more efficiently when their competition is most likely going to read it and beat them to it. That's my two cents anyhow. Here's to some good winter rain and an enjoyable convention.

Australia and Hong Kong both have two dedicated PPRuNe professional pilot forums. Most countries have one - at best! I think Australia and New Zealand do very well with it's forums, which in turn are well supported by our Aussie and Kiwi users.

More forums, more Moderators required, more administration required.

I've raised your request with Admin previously, they advise they want less, not more forums to manage. Many existing forums are under patronised and I suspect an Ag forum would also be under patronised. I agree with the PPRuNe Admin decision.

I'm just the hired help. Feel free to put your case to PPRuNe Administration but I'm sure you will need to substantiate the need with valid statistics.

This site receives over 1 million "hits" per day. At any time, day or night, there are at least 100 users browsing the Dunnunda forums.

You are welcome to start ag aviation threads in the Dunnunda GA Forum.

Thanks, I wasn't suggesting another forum, just that the only aggies who post on the Bizjets,Ag,GA forum are from Oz anyway - so they may as well post on D&G GA.

Yup, if we don't get some decent rain this year, there won't be a single paddock that can't be spread or sprayed by ground - right thru the year.

As to whether aggies are overly secretive......not my reading of things, at least not in regard to flying technique and operations. Naturally, nobody gives away trade secrets, in any business. Bit unfair that!

Cool Wannabe? Ouch!

Didn't you or the devl threaten global starvation if you didn't get your own forum in the first place? I am not saying that ag pilots don't have a lot to contribute, simply that they rarely do unless provoked, that is simply the nature of a good majority of these guys. Just look at this thread for example. And as for ag being a revolutonary industry, what developments has the industry come up with in the last ten years? Jarba booms? PAL markers in the fields? The Jarba system hasn't really been embraced and you could argue that the PAL markers have caused more than one accident. I am not trying to write off the industry, far from it. I am merely pointing out why very few threads regarding ag pop up on Pprune. I should make like an ag pilot and shut up but I will prepare myself for another flaming. Cheers.

NZ Ag Calendar

Can someone help, about 10 years ago I received an Ag calendar from a mate in NZ.
There were Ag photos for each month - some great shots from memory
Some clot in the office fired it out at years end.
Did the calendar continue on in subsequent years - any clues to who the publishers were.
Thanks

Point of order, the Ag forum has seen participants from the U.S. , Canada, S.A., Europe and from somewhere in the Caribbean (?) at one point or another.

It is a relatively new forum; it lacks the maturity of some.
