self administraion

Will I need to get an AOC to operate a flying school under self administration?

The question is important in my situation as an AOC involves a lot of time and expense. Why put myself through this if at the end of the process self administration comes in and AOC's are not required.

(I believe that in the USA no AOC-or similar- is required to instruct)

If you need to ask this question. You are clearly not ready to hold an AOC.

Folks,

Self administration is NOT self regulation,"self administration" is probably best described as "community administration", which is the "rule", rather than the exception for Sports and Recreational aviation, and has been for many years.

All that self administration for GA means is a move to something akin to Sports and Rec. for what is now "private flying", a very imprecise term. The CASA regulations being "administered" don't change.

In the US, you can learn to fly without going to a "Part 141" flying school, but the minimum hours via an independent Certified Flying Instructor (CFI) and a school are very different.

Have a look on the FAA web site, it's all there.

Tootle pip!!

Thanks LeadSled
To the other two respondents-
1. Have been around long enough to know that asking around is often quicker than reading through endless press releases, PDF files etc. Therefore why not ask!
2. Yes thank you I do have a CPL (moron) AND have previously been a CFI of a ME IFR school AND have ATPL's AND have above 10K TT.
3. I look forward to you correcting my spelling mistakes.

Does this come under the same regulation as a friend or family member with an instructors rating endorsing you in aero's or on a csu ? If they were licensed too under a normal flying school.
