Auto-pilot Runaways

Spent many hours in a Vulcan Mk1 fitted with a Smiths Mk10 AP determining the acceptable full rate runaways with a margin thrown in for safety. Without auto cut-out spring struts adjusted to cater for runaways the AP could easily have broken the aircraft. Some of the rides were quite exciting.

I'd be concerned and incredulous if your aircraft/AP combination has not been protected from full rate runaways. YOUR pilot reaction time will not always be quick enough if the AP is able to overcome the control feel system.
