LIBERTY Aircraft

Had my first look at the new Liberty yesterday . Looks great, 2 seat, 125kts, 22 l /hr, aluminum wings kevlar body, built like a brick outhouse. IFR model about $240K and VFR around $200K. Up against the Jabi there is no comparison hope my club goes for them.

Horses for courses

hey I do not doubt its a great plane, saw it at Narromine recently, thought the sales guy was a bit stuck up and arrogant listening to him talk to a guy who may or may not be a potential customer. But it is half the price of an SR20.
Still over twice the price of the Jab.
Now look at payload and range......
Feature Liberty Jab
Range 630nm 763nm
load 165kg 262kg
(at same range)
Seats 2 adults (max) 2Adults + 2 kids (or 1xadult)
Climb rate 680fpm >1000fpm
Its still a nice plane, dont get me wrong and its running costs look reasonable, but if I get rid of the jab one day and spend $250K it will be an RV-10 with all the IFR fruit and leather trim etc. now we are talking serious bang for the buck!

J430:
Just been looking at the VFR version of the SR20 called the SRV;
Same aircraft, same ballistic recovery parachute, glass cockpit etc, but less avionics, basic interior etc.
Cost on the VH is about US$220k or about A$265,000 (+GST)!.

Thats not a bad deal, but of course its the extra's you have to add in that bump it up a little, plus getting it here and so on. I am not sure but I bet there is not one sold into Australia for less than $350K, even at the Ozzie $ being USD$0.80 which is about as good as it has been in a long time.

I know an owner of a IFR SR20 and it has cost him in the high $400K range from memory.

Phone up Steve Maltby and ask for a quote! I would if I had the time to spare........hang on I am on PPRUNE.....time to spare

If you like a true 4 seater.......the owner of VH-VIO is the one to convince him to sell his plane to you!

Cheers

Called SM, have written quote for base SRV - including delivery to AF and on the VH rego for a base of US$222k or about A$265k.

Of course, an Autopilot and some frills takes the price to AUD$300k.

You are correct that an IFR SR20 will top A$350k delivered.

Looked at some used SR20s but as they were bought when the AUD$ was dismal, the price asked used is often more than what new can be bought for....

It's not a Cirrus unless it has 300 horsepower up front, Aircon, Avidyne MFD, dual GPS, Autopilot, seatbelt airbags, radar, tcas, de-ice and everything else that the SR22 GTS has as standard. Now, THAT is an aircraft. Only p**fs buy Columbia's.

I always wondered about the reason for the side stick on Columbias and Cirrus.....

Does this also mean only p**fs fly Airbuses?????

That is not surprising with the exchange rate, its probably about 15% cheaper now than a few years ago.
As for Squawk and Yestam......well you are entertaining What does in mean if you have a stick in the centre??

Squawk7700:

Yes, the GTS has the lot. But my dream Cirrus (if I could afford it) would be the new SR22 G3 Turbo GTS with aircon!.
All for A$650k!.

Apologies to Kickitalong - this was supposed to be about Liberty.......
