Taupo Airport
Hey there
I use to fly skydivers off Taupo years ago, it was a great way to build hours but got a little sporty towards the end - unhealthy competition, questionable operating procedures etc...
local operators were battling tooth and nail against the council whom were looking for user fees etc...
Whilst overseas I heard the airport manager topped himself whilst facing fraud charges & AOPA or some other large orginasition voted Taupo The most dangerous airport in the world ....
WTF?
Hopefully she's settled down a little, If anyones working off Taupo let us know as I do miss her ....

Roy topped himself driving just past the field heading to 5 mile bay, he was on his way home from court and drove under a truck. ALPA did a survey on Taupo last year. They recieved a return off aprox 50 out off 1000 sent out, so based on a 5% return (Most off who never fly into Taupo) they issued us with a black star rating! Truth is alot was drumed up by the media and a few users on the field who wanted us to go elsewhere. Apart from that it seams to have settled down we still drop more meat bombs than anywhere else I know, get to fly good gear, and working for funnellcorp isnt to bad a deal there are deffinitly worse places in NZ you could be

And then there's the grammar... noooooo, let's not go there...![Ugh](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies2/eusa_wall.gif)
The spelling police must have their day...
