Twin Flying Darwin.
What are the job opportunities for a flying a twin with an Instrument Rating and an Instructor Rating in Darwin? Have about 950 hours and 40 hours twin. Endorsed Duchess and 600 hours instructing.
Willing to get another endorsement, if I can get the relevant twin flying to progress. Would be willing to do both charter and instruct.

There's not a whole lot of instructing work up there. Just the one flying school that operate a C172 and a Twin Commanche, possibly something else from memory.
Charter is the main focus. I would suggest that you may have to spend some time flying C200 series VFR charter before progressing to twins, given that most of your time is instructional, and perhaps on more basic S/E types...??
On the other hand, stranger things have happened, right place, right time, etc. I'm not implying by the above statement that you're incapable of conducting twin IFR charter on your first day on the job, incidentally, however from a reality perspective, it would be likely that you'll have to do some S/E stuff first.
To answer your query, I can think of a few outfits that have been recruiting up there of late. The key is to get up there and set yourself up, start applying for jobs in person, etc.
Useful endorsements to start off with would be C310, BE58 and if you're loaded with cash maybe a PA31 and C402 also. Probably best to research the various fleets up there beforehand though (via company websites), so you don't go wasting your dosh. While you're there see what the minimums are in detail. Generally about the 1000hr mark is ok, from what I understand.
Good luck!

Try Hardy Aviation. They own Darwin Flying School so they might be able to offer you some charter and instructing.
Just be aware that there is another charter company in the same building as the flying school, which is totally seperate to Hardys and DFS so dont get the two confused.
Best of luck

Most of the people around me in Darwin in the mid -90s had between 1500 to 2000 hr single on 206 and 210 before they got onto Barons etc.
Advantage is we did around 800-1000hr per year, so you usually left Darwin with 2500 hr with 500 multi IFR after about 3 yrs.
Way ahead of mates that did the flying school routine. Horses for courses, would make it harder to get into C+T now without an instructor rating if one was interested, but then again, life is simpler!
Why not try Surveillance? They are always looking for guys with 1500hr for the Islander. And a slow twin is best for your first twin.

Hi there,
I had exactly the same experience when I went up to Darwin in 2001 (all instructing time) and I found work within a week. I spent a year on the singles before moving onto the twins (there was little movement back then). I guess it all comes down to right place at the right time. Chances are you will probably start off on the singles in Darwin so save you money regarding endorsements etc.
Good luck
