Air NZ recuritment

So further to the q's on QF's woes. What are the options looking like at Air NZ over the next few yrs. How long is s/o currently and f/o - command?
Can you fly f/0 on the A320 or 737 and get direct entry f/o on 744, 777 (or 787)

What are the recommended options?

Thanks

In short, not good. Unlikely to be any recruitment in the next couple of years, and there's still plenty on yes letters.

In the recent past recruitment has been as S/O on 744 or 763 or F/O on 733. As it is all seniority based, there is no scope for joining at a higher rank than these (although prob S/O on 772 when it all kicks of again). Just depends on what the least sort-after jobs are.

As for times to promotion, I think at the mo you're looking at over 4 years to long haul F/O, and about the same to 733 command. Of course, things have all stopped now, so it's anyones' guess where that trend will head.

full throttle then stop

Those on Yes letters have been told Jan09

All 763 so's will be off the fleet by the end of November and on the B772.

New hires are likley to be multi rated B772 and B789

B733 Commands after 4 years was just a hiccup, it is now back to the more normal 8 to 10 years, however dont expect any commands until mid next year and then only about 4 for the year.

How many are sitting on yes letters? I heard around 30-35, can anyone confirm that?

I think that's how many there were when it all stopped. Some have moved on to the likes of Cathay since then.
