re - Fraser 73/74 #9410
That is my paint scheme ( white with the blue line continued up the rear of the rudder a-la 'scorpion' stinger, taken from the '68 Cessna 206 style to make the company flagship look better....modern even....), but without the company logos. Ken Hale, Whitakers truck spraypainter and I applied it when Bevan took the '59 Skylane in trade from Peter Bambling on some trucks and tractors.
Can't tell if the fellow with the long socks getting the gear out of the locker is me or not.., by that time Bevan had a B.36, FWZ, but I was still doing some part time work in the Skylane as well, using it for charters on our licence. (Didn't like putting the 36 on the beach, as it got sand in the up-lock rollers, - along with other things. Later, after he had traded the 36 on a B.55, he got a Cherokee 6, PYD, to do the Island beach landing work, and another young pilot named Don to fly it.) Sid Melksham, from Eurong, bought it off Bevan and later painted a palm tree on the tail when he got his own licence. He later sold it to Sel Hewitt who used it on his own licence for Fraser work.
She did a lot of beach landing that old girl (but back then she was only 15 or 20 years young).
Can't quite pick the strip of the Cessna photo, could be Rainbow Beach at Inskip, doesn't look like Bogimba or Happy Vally, or could even be Orchid Beach - but we were generally banned from Orchid Beach because of IslandAir/UnionAir being the opposition, but the next one of the 6 is at Orchid Beach for sure.
This is how she ended up when she was too corroded to fly any more....

I stand corrected on the date and model. The Skylane dates it post 1957.
Of those early models my logbook shows VH RFK (ex agricultural 180 converted to tricycle by Hazleton's Orange), and VH GWF, reported to be a 182A. This one was a US import and had a VAR. Both performed very well but the noise would probably be an OH&S offence today.

Trojan, ref your piccie #3 at Amberley.
The photo is obviously taken a smidge after noon (local time), because the shadows of
a. The meat filled body bag at front of chopper barely casts a shadow with the sunlight on his back and his front in shadow.
b. The left skid is just in sunlight and the Huey shadows are only displaced slightly behind the chopper
In the southern hemisphere the sun is always displaced to the relative north except for a few days in northern Queensland but never at Amberley.
Therefore the aircraft is facing north, the photographer is to the west of the chopper and the photograph is looking towards the East.
If so, there are/was no large structures (as shown in the background) to the East of the AMS at Amberley.
yours in confusion ?????

Anorak on and buttoned at the collar................
The first picture is a CASA CN235 MPA (licence built in Indonesia) belonging to Skadron Udara Patroli Maritim dan AEWACS based at Hasanuddin Indonesia.
The other aeroplane is a OV-10 Bronco (North American). I didn't know they had any Bronco's left. Have seen them at Batam over the years along with a few Nomads.
Anorak off and return to normal.

Thanks George
It was only the CASA and the 3 trucks I was unsure of, the Bronco is from the Philippines. They were taken at Clark during the hotair balloon festival.

Re . Avocet aircraft
Hi , just like to say that the avocet 's jabiru engine has got liquid cooled heads & SDSmultipoint fuel injection , & I've ordered an Airmaster prop ,
I've also redesigned the turret ,looks more like a lake type ,less drag than the 4 poster ,
The a/Incidence of the tail only looks excessive ,as the nose wheel is slightly lower so that on the ground you get better access to the back, makes the tail look overly high while on the ground .
I've also increased the dyheadral to 2.2deg & moved the wing 30 mm forward ,doesn't feel as nose heavy with two up and no cargo .
I been flying around with a beewee 100 Yamaha scooter in the back as well ,doesn't make a lot of differance to the trim , so it doesn't really need the jabiru trim , anyway , thanks for the feed back .
