This one 'only' had 1500hp or so with the original merlin, they're apparently getting a new engine with 2500hp getting installed.

Multiple flying machines
Nice Goose -- doesn't quite roll off the tongue like the other nice seaplane that's around - but still - nice.
Many wings going in all directions?!?!
This was really nice, you can look around it, talk to the guy who flies it and check it out inside!. There is another one that is doing joyglights through the week for $55 US a pop. Plan is to go for a ride through the week.
Latest in PFD/MFD and engine mangement technology
Sarcasm aside - was awesome to look around inside... Wicker chairs, engine instruments for the outboard engines - outside!
900SHP Garret Caravan - not sure on the $$ damage to get one, but the guy reckons that it can do 19 jumpers to 13500' in about 13 min or so burning about 100lbs of kero. Would be cool to fly one.
The noisemaker itself - didnt work out why there was a second alternator on top running from the accessory gearbox. Have to ask the guys.
Terrafugia in the flesh - pity it didnt fly, but they did mess around with the wings folding around. This proto has been retired from flying closer inspection looks like it had some battlescars around the front canard, like a rough bog job with tape. Oww. Must have hurt.
Cant wait to see white knight fly, think it's on tues or wed that it goes up for a demo. Also on the todo list to go around for a closer look.
New Metro replacement - heard it has better fuel burn, more payload, integrated flight deck/fms. Multiple garmins and comes in choice of colours!!!! - I flipped out the chequebook and put a deposit on one.

Nothing New
Hi Peter,
Good point on things not being really 'new' - in a lot of cases.
I guess it's relatively speaking - as the Hondajet is a new thing - maybe not a new concept, but still new for it's market.
Talking with some clued up aircraft designers, it's interesting to note that different designers have 'signature' things that they do. Was quite funny, this guy was able to guess pretty accurately who designed a certain wing profile by the shapes of bumps and curves in the profile. Interesting stuff.
Even more interesting is a website - Luft '46 - WWII German aircraft projects - that has a lot of concepts by the Germans during WW2. A lot of the concepts from that era have appeared in things that are 'cutting edge' now.... Eg. Looking through it, there are some things that look similar to spaceship one etc. Sure there is a huge amount of development with new designs to make them viable, but some of the early concepts and sketches are sure being re-visited...
More pictures coming shortly - today I learnt that I suck at fabric covering and need some more practice. Managed to gas weld reasonably well (from patching up rusted up cars in a previous life) - and saw the A380 arrive and Spaceship one do it's routine.

We need Planky for a full analysis on that one D-J.
Good ole Stephen thinks his last name is Hawking
If CASA got involved with that one at least we'd have a fancy little leaflet in the post like I received today to make everyone think the cost recovery initiatives are going towards something worthwhile
