I have actually never met the owner of the Hangar, only spoken to him on the blower. sadly i have forgotten his name..., but it is at Hoxton park, and there are 2 Opticas in the hangar. love to fly one of those, wonder if the vis would be any better than the Vamp?
as for the Vampire engine, mine is powered by a Rotax 503, pretty bulletproof little engine..
the early 80's ones were powered by the Solo 210 engine??
the new ones now have a 55 hp HKS 4 stroke engine, as for the reliability of this engine, im unsure.

The WLAC is a "White Lightning." Quite a fast machine when equipped with the right engine. When photo was taken it was Vic registered so not sure why it was in Cooly.
The Optica's belongs to Peter Waterhouse from memory. Not many of those around either. The story goes that he was offered big money for them years ago by the factory because they stopped making them and because he owns them they have to keep supporting the aircraft in terms of parts etc, as part of some English law / agreement. The result is that they are apparently worth a hell of a lot of money.
They are quite a noisy machine when airborne too.

Yeah sir pratt, the cap is positioned properly. I used to always recheck that thing. It was designed that way because of the "flop tube" fuel tank, enabling it to retrieve fuel in all flight conditions and g-manouevres.

Any Oldies Still Out There
Okay we have seen that many of you can pick a current airstrip. How about one that's thirty years old???
And these ones are for any former Bushies pilots out there. I apologise for the quality of the photos but they were taken on an old 110 instamatic.
And DC3 fans

And this one to see if any of you can tell me if it is still flying.

notmyC150v2: Dunno bout the airstrip, but the 402 BPZ is in a squillion bits at ROM, where its been sitting for about 5 years. It'll never fly again (in Oz anyway - maybe he'll 'do a FWG' and send it to South America.....

Hmm Talair had one of those shortnosed C402s, P2-GKB...brings back many a smelly, sweaty memory of climbing passed 8 or 10 villagers to get to my seat and with no pilot door there was no way of cooling off until altitude...flew nicer than than As, Bs and Cs though...took a modest amount of attention to keep the CofG under control...lucky the average PNG villager was about 60kgs
Still, she was the pick of the litter if you were contemplating taking a C402 somewhere silly.
