Qantas Direct Entry Courses

Is it true that there are no more courses for those in the direct entry hold pool till Jan next year? I had also heard a rumour that there are a "few" small courses still being planned this year - any direct entry types on these?

Two new commands in the next training year and no fo slots without 5+ years of service. Nope no courses for a looooong time.
But remember...The future is bright, the future is orange.

Angry

Not just 5+ years of service for promotion to F/O, more significantly out of nearly 500 s/o's in QF the amount of promotions to f/o can be counted on one hand (ie. less than 5).

There will be no more courses unless QF mainline flying expands. Given there are a surpluss of s/o's on the 330, and numbers are right on the other types, with the 5 or so promotions coming this year don't hold your breath.

And the chances of QF flying expanding while a/c are sent to Jetstar who are searching for pilots who will fly them for less money?

Yeah but Bazz, don't forget AJ speaks gospel...From todays Australian and ref to QF pilots ``They're in a position where they are becoming vastly uncompetitive with the rest of the aviation market,'' Mr Joyce said.

Hmmm, last week I was on 98 hours for 30 days and being called to do a standby because of 'crewing issues'

"Ahh yes no problems shame I cant do anything but I guess you already know that sched&*()g!"
"Oooh yes you're right. Thanks anyway."
With the sound of phone hanging up with "Oh F^&*" in the background.

Shame we are so uncompetitive and a big bloody shame that no one in Qantas flight ops will address the issues on their side of the fence. Thanks GD and JPC for highlighting just how uncompetitive we are.

The future is bright. The future is orange.

Have you got link for that little gem Hot'n'high? I've had a good look around the Australian site and can't find it or is it only in the hard copy?

hard copy pg 2.
Sorry to six spot for getting off thread. I shall restart elsewhere, but trying to get the point across that the recruitment bus has had a major blow out and I don't see it getting back on the road for a long time.

Smile maybe it's not so bad

heard an unconfirmed rumour that this 'blowout' in QF recruiting is not as serious as this thread may insinuate. Maybe as little as three to six months delay. A few blokes that were held off for stages one and two have been told that the flow may soon continue.

It may not be as dramatic as we arelead to believe

Should have taken the standby and extra dosh. Then you wait until they call you for the duty before telling them you were out of hours!
