Does anyone know what the first 777 is towing from the top of its rudder?

It's a static port, trailed back into relatively undisturbed air
Used for test purposes

Every x-wind landing i see by an airliner is using the crabbin technique... anyone know why the wing down technique isnt used...?
Im assuming its because of the wing striking the ground....but any other reason why the crbbin technique might be better then the wing down?
Cheers
