Mishap at Parafield

Just heard about a light aircraft fire at Parafield. Apparently a tyre, but also something about a ruptured right wing.

DF.

didn't take long for it to get on here!!

I taxxied in past the aircraft just after the fire had been put out. It was online with the FS that I did a Hire and Fly with this morning.

What actually happened was the aircraft (a Cherokee) had sticking brakes, the pilot attempted to takeoff but rightly aborted and while taxiing back in the tower spotted the wheel and strut on fire. The resulting fire burnt out the tyre, wheel, most of the strut and a big hole in the underside of the wing. How the fuel tank didn't go up is a miracle. The Tower guys (and girls) are YPPF did a good job in alerting the pilot to a bad situation!! Well done!
