Sorry can't help with C210's, but I'm curious as to why you need the 10 hours and why command time is an issue?? A basic check ride should only take 1.5 hours and after that all the time should be command, after all you already have a class endosrsement for se a/c <5700kg. Don't let any unscrupulous organisation try and con you out of any more!!

Could be insurance requirements. Our C210s ask for 500 TT, 10 on type, and believe it or not, 25 retractable time. It has proven difficult to get dispensations aswell. Doesn't have to be command though.

for sure

Yep, a lot of companies minimums are just rehashed insurance company specifications.

Fair enough, really. Frankly, I wouldn't (and didn't) want to jump in a C210 after merely reading the POH/AFM, which is why I went up for a coupla hours with an instructor before I went anywhere on my own in it. Have heard of people who've been stung.

What gets me is companies who want that godforsaken "F"Class drivers licence. When I was looking for my first gig, I had the flying experience minimums but was unemployable cause I wasn't old enough to hold the "F" Class licence. What a load!!

Flying is obviously safer than driving....

The reason you need a F class is because some of the tours with these companies require it, meaning if you don't have the license you can't do the job.

Sure, flying is safer than driving, but if you stack the bus without the appropriate qualifications, you can kiss insurance goodbye

Its the same as say applying for a job on a 210 and having 20hrs on type, sure you have probably got the experience they need to meet insurance req, be lets say that that company does alot of night freight in the 210 and the pilot in question doesn't have a night rating. Once again the pilot can't do the job.

Its crap that we have to keep shelling out this money for more ticks in more boxes, but what do u do?

I need the 210 time for the insurance reasons that most operators have and just thought command time would be better. I have about 2.7 hours on type so i really only need 7.3 to forfill the 10 hour requirement. F-class licence?????? I'll jump that hurdle when i come to it!!!

If you can get to Bankstown, Cheiftan Aviation (02 9771 1333)have a C210 I used to fly. They are a friendly group of people too.

I got my flying job in kununurra before I got my F-class licence, but it is a good idea to have another qualification (eg bus licence) cause not all your job over the next few years will be full time flying ones. A few separate skills like a bar course or some waitering experience will help you find a job on the town in which you are looking for flying work. Also whilst having a casual flying job now I also have another to help pay the bills.
Good luck

QUOTE: " I really only need 7.3 to "forfill" the 10 hour requirement." JUZ-777, For starters, running a dictionary and spell check on your resume will go a long way. That way you'll "fulfill" one of the most important requirements. Oh and having the Chief Pilots name spelt correctly earns brownies as well!

Cheers

I would research the company mentioned at ysbk by the Dr. as they are not what he makes them out to be. They think their 210 is some sort of 400kt speed machine with a turbine up front which requires an aircraft knowledge paper larger than an ATPL exam.
They never stop going on about how hard the aircraft is to slow down and how far behind it you will be when you fly it but the best bit is in the couple or circuits at the end where you are not allowed to retract the gear as the aircarft is too fast on downwind to slow down!!!!!

The 210 is great bush machine but can bite you in the arse really quickly if your not on the ball (or a chick), just have a look at the nice bent one at Darwin airport sitting on its tail.

Dear Bypassing
What you say is correct, they do go on like it goes at 400kt in the cct. They are perhaps a little over cautious before they let you roar off in their C210 but doing a little extra reading wont hurt you and flying an aeroplane to specific company requirements is something you should get used to. From memeory they did leave the gear down when doing circuit training but the reason they gave me was to reduce the cycles on the landing gear motor. Their aeroplane, their requirements. Good luck juz777
